About DIY Tents

In Greece and especially in Athens, terraces have at least 6-8 months of action during the year due to the warm weather and the sun. In the summer there are days that the sun is so hot, that temperature reaches about 40 degrees °C. If you climb on a roof in the center of the cιty, you will come across many forms of shadows. Customised ideas using all sorts of materials can be spotted. Fabrics such as cotton canvas, denim, gabardine, army sheets, normal sheets, shadow sheets, nets, cords and leafs are used as a cover. Sometimes they are simply attached with staple guns, sometimes they are hanged from hooks, nailed or screwed on walls and surfaces.

Wakeupcut is going to be developing a few ideas on terraces in the coming weeks. One favorite idea is making shadow by using weaving techniques with leafs. Whatever plants you may be trimming from your garden or your terrace, if they are relatively big, do not throw them away. You might want to weave them into a beautiful customised shadow. You can use this technique to weave various parts and then combine them all together in the shape you wish. They are very light, easy to attach or hang almost on all surfaces, while they sweetly rustle from the wind.
